Kayla Cormier is a Cape Breton artist and the Head of Production for the Highland Arts Theatre. She is an alumnus of Cape Breton University where she studied English Literature and Anthropology, and where she first became involved in theatre. Over the years at the HAT Kayla has been involved with projects such as the Bentinck St Murals and over 50 productions: such as She Loves Me (Set), West Moon (Set and Costume), and Funny Girl (Art Director and Costumes). She is also the 2020 Vital Award recipient for her work at the HAT and 2023 Robert Merritt Award winner for Outstanding Costume Design for The Happy Prince (HAT).
